Take A Class With Us

Discover Our Classes and Sign Up Today – Beginners Welcome!

Browse our seasonal offerings and join us for hands-on learning in nature. Classes are open to all experience levels, with a variety of topics, structures, and pricing based on the instructor, materials, and class format. Materials fees are paid directly to the instructor, while the registration fee is handled by Montana Folk School.

During spring, summer, and fall, most classes take place outdoors at the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden, unless noted otherwise. Our winter crafting classes move indoors to the Montana Natural History Center.

Many classes include light walking on trails and may involve venturing off-trail. Youth ages 12 and up are welcome to attend when accompanied by an adult.

Classes listed with a specific date and time are confirmed and scheduled; you can sign up anytime! If a date is yet to be confirmed you can still register and we’ll notify you by email when it’s scheduled. Join us in learning, creating, and exploring!

Where are classes located?

We are excited to announce our partnership with Montana Natural History Center!  Our outdoor classes are located at the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden.  During the winter months, some classes are located indoors at Montana Natural History Center. We send out a email with any details regarding a class one week prior to gathering.

As we build our organization, it is possible that a class may be canceled due to insufficient participation. We hope this won’t happen, but we need a minimum number of students in each class to pay the instructor and cover materials, land use fees, insurance, and any infrastructure like bathrooms or camping sites. Should this happen, you will be notified and you are welcome to apply your payment to another class of similar value. If you have any questions, please reach out.
