Winter Plant Discovery - Sun, Jan 26, 1-3:30pm

$40.00

Winter in Montana is a beautiful and quiet time to explore the woods. It may seem like not much is going on, but for the curious naturalist, it is a fantastic time for learning and discovery. In this course we will saunter around the floodplain near Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden and you will learn how to identify native shrubs, trees and lichens using a variety of techniques. We will also discuss how humans and animals use these species for food, shelter, medicine and more. Learning how to recognize plants this time of year is a valuable skill and you will leave this course with a new appreciation of how they survive and provide during our coldest months.

Supplies: Small backpack with notebook, pencils, water, and clothing layers for an outdoor wander
