Creating A Color Palate With Natural Dyes Immersion - June 6-8, 2025
Astounded by colors in nature? Want to explore natural dyes? In this class, you will learn the basics of how to build a dye color palate with plant pigments. We will forage, prepare, mordant, and dye fibers. This 3 part workshop will take place outdoors. Participants will learn how to apply natural color to different kinds of fibers. Natural dyes we use are permanent and light fast. Finished product wash and care instructions will also be discussed. Each participant will walk away with a dye sample swatch booklet, a finished piece made during class, and the ability to do use skills learned in your own natural dye adventures.
Beginners welcome! Youth age 12 and up are welcome to register separately and attend when attending alongside a registered adult. Parent/Guardian must attend with youth.
Day 1: Fiber Types and Preparation, Foraging (10am to 3pm)
Day 2: Working With Nature to Create Color Palate (10am- 3pm)
Day 3: Finishing dyed pieces and swatch booklet (10am-2pm)
Material Fee: $10 for mordanting materials. Paid directly to instructor on the first day of class.
