Cancellations
If we must cancel a course, students will receive a full refund of any payments made for that course. Students who cancel their enrollment more than 15 days prior to the first day of the course will receive a refund less a $25 cancellation fee to cover administrative costs. In recognition of the time and energy instructors invest in preparing for courses, students who cancel their enrollment 15 days or less prior to the first day of the course are not eligible for a refund.
Age for Class Attendance
In the interest of encouraging intergenerational learning, some classes are open to students under the age of 18 provided that they are accompanied by a fully enrolled adult student. Due to the unique nature of each class, minimum age requirements are defined by the instructor. All classes that are open for intergenerational learning are clearly defined by the course description. Tuition rates may vary for adult/youth pairings. Please inquire with questions as needed.
Air Quality Considerations
Montana Folk School classes will continue to occur during smoky conditions. Depending on the air quality level, we will adjust our programming and can spend time inside. When inside, some of our activities will change and we always strive to keep folks safe, engaged, and having fun.
We will be inside as much as possible when the air quality is "unhealthy"(red) and will not venture outdoors at all when the air quality is "very unhealthy"(purple) or "hazardous"(purple).
When the air quality is "unhealthy for sensitive groups"(orange) or "moderate"(yellow), we will be outside as normal. While we won't always be able to predict the air quality at every moment with 100% accuracy (it changes just like the weather), we regularly check the below resources to make decisions. We encourage you to also download the app and make decisions based on what is best for you also.
Indoor Location: If for some reason due to severe smoky conditions(prolonged red or purple level) we have to move inside, we will head to an indoor space located in downtown Missoula.
We use the Air Visual app to monitor air quality forecasts and the Montana DEQ website and guidelines to make decisions when to move campers inside.
